Milan Lucic

Milan Lucic ( born June 7, 1988 in Vancouver, British Columbia) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player with Serbian ancestors, who plays for the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League since 2007.

Career

Milan Lucic began his career in 2004 in the second-rate Canadian Junior Football League British Columbia Hockey League with the Coquitlam Express, where he completed a solid season with 23 points in 50 games and also one for the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League, one of the three major junior leagues Canada, was used. In the season 2005/ 06 he finally was an integral part of the Giants, but could not convince his offensive qualities, when he scored only nine goals in 62 games and ten prepared. At season's end Lucic won with the Vancouver Giants of the President's Cup. In the NHL Entry Draft 2006, the Boston Bruins chose him in the second round at position 50.

During the season 2006/07 Lucic became an important support of his team and led the Giants with 68 points scorer. After they were drafted into the WHL playoffs the way to the final, they took part in as host of the final round at the Memorial Cup, which they won finally after a 3-1 victory in the final against the Medicine Hat Tigers. Lucic led along with teammate Michal Řepík and Tom Sestito of the Plymouth Whalers, the scorer list with seven points in five games and was awarded the Stafford Smythe Memorial Trophy as Most Valuable Player of the Memorial Cup finals.

On 2 August 2007 Lucic signed an entry-level contract with the Boston Bruins and led in the same month the Canadian U-20 selection as a team captain in the Super Series against Russia. Canada won the eight games comprehensive series with 7-0 victories in a draw.

His debut in the National Hockey League for Boston he gave on 5 October 2007 and a week later he scored his first goal in the game against the Los Angeles Kings.
