Milan Uhde

Milan Uhde ( born July 28, 1936 in Brno ) is a Czech writer and politician.

Life

Milan Uhde grew up in Brno, where he studied Russian and Czech. Until its dissolution in 1970, he was editor of the Culture Revue Host do domu, after which he worked as a freelance writer. In 1972 he was banned from publication. In 1977 he signed the Charter 77

After the Velvet Revolution in 1990 he was Minister of Culture, Czechoslovakia, in 1992 President of the Parliament of the Czech Parliament and 1996 leader of the ODS. After cleavage of the ODS, he moved in 1997 to Unie svobody - demokratická unie ( Freedom Union ). Since 1998, he has no party affiliation and independent writer.

Milan Uhde wrote poetry, short stories, screenplays, plays, radio plays and essays.
