The Milano Porta Genova railway station (Italian: Stazione di Milano Porta Genova ) is a railway station in the northern Italian city of Milan. It is operated by the State Railway of RFI and serves as the starting point of the railway line Milano - Mortara.

History

The station was opened in 1870 as a through station on the railway line Milano - Mortara with the name Milano Porta Ticinese.

In 1923 he was renamed Milano Porta Genova.

1931, with the closure of the old Centrale railway station and the western ring road, it was the terminus of the railway line Milano - Mortara.

On October 30, 1983, under the railway underground station Porta Genova FS in operation.

Traffic

From the train station, the regional trains from Milano - Mortara run every hourly interval services. In the rush hour a few pairs of trains on Mortara continue to and from Alessandria.

Under the railway station is the underground metro station Porta Genova, which is served by trains on the M2 line of the Metropolitana di Milano.

There are plans to decommission the Porta Genova Station and to build on the site of a new district. The trains would then operate on the Southern belt car to Milano Rogoredo station.
