Mile Sterjovski

Mile Sterjovski ( born May 27, 1979 in Wollongong, New South Wales) is an Australian football player. Sterjovski, in addition to the Australian and the citizenship of Macedonia.

Club career

The attacking midfielder with Macedonian roots came the age of 16 to his first stakes in the first Australian Football League with his hometown team, the Wollongong Wolves. In 1997, he then played for Sydney United and Parramatta Power firmly in the National Soccer League. As the Movers OSC Lille sought reinforcements for the 2000 /01 season in the French top to Sterjovski joined the club and has established itself there as well. Greatest success with Lille was in the 2003/04 season winning the Intertoto Cup.

The following year he joined the Swiss champions FC Basel, where he became a regular player immediately and was able to repeat the championship success again. In the season 2005/ 06 of the FCB missed terse another league title, but Sterjovski was able to advance to the quarter- finals with FC Basel in the UEFA Cup. In the 2006/07 season he was with Basel Cup winner. For the following season, however, he was no longer considered by coach Christian Gross and therefore joined the Turkish Erstligaaufsteiger Gençlerbirliği OFTAŞ where in his debut, he scored the same score. In January 2008, he joined the English club Derby County, 18 months later, he moved back to Australia and plays since then as a marquee for Perth Glory. After he was changed in early 2012 to China to Dalian Aerbin, he already returned in mid-2012 back in the A-League and signed a contract with the Central Coast Mariners. On April 20, 2013, celebrated against the Western Sydney Wanderers his first Australian Championship after a 2-0 win.

National

Mile Sterjovski also plays for the Australian national football team. With the U -20 side he took in 1999 at the U -20 World Cup in Nigeria in part. 2000, he made his debut against Scotland in the senior national team and was a year later in the squad at the Confederations Cup in 2001, when the third rank was achieved with a 1-0 victory over Brazil. In 2004 he won the OFC Nations Cup with Australia. After Guus Hiddink 2005 coach was, he was no longer used in qualifying for the World Cup in 2006, but in 2006 was still the World Cup squad.

Under Hiddink's successor Pim Verbeek, he qualified Sterjovski with the Australian national team for the 2010 World Cup.
