Mileanca

Mileanca is a municipality in the district of Botosani in Romania. It consists of the four villages Codreni, Mileanca, Scutari and Seliştea.

Geographical location

The municipality is located in northeastern Romania Mileanca in the historical region of Moldavia ( Principatul Moldovei ), in the northern part of the western Moldova. Of the Moldavian Plain ( Câmpia Moldovei ) in the northeast of the circle Botosani the river Podriga - a left tributary of the Başeu - and the county road (drum Judetean ) DJ 293, the site is located about 15 kilometers south of the small town Darabani; the county town of Botosani ( Botoschan ) is located 62 km south from Mileanca.

History

The place Mileanca was first mentioned in 1622; on whose premises are archaeological finds which suggest the Bronze Age, have been made.

Population

The municipal area a Ukrainian and one without ethnicity were recorded in the census of 2002 3005 Romanians. A preliminary census from 31 October 2011 2736 people were registered on the territory of the municipality in 1217 households.

The main occupation of the population is agriculture, cattle and fish farming.

Attractions

On the territory of the municipality no peculiar attractions are worth mentioning, except the Orthodox Church in Mileanca from the 19th century and in eingemeindeten Codreni village, which was built in 1900.
