Milena Knežević

Milena Knežević (born 12 March 1990 in Titograd, Yugoslavia ) is a Montenegrin handball player who has been awarded the 2012 Montenegrin handball player of the year.

Career

Knežević played since 2000 in the Montenegrin club zrk Budućnost Podgorica. With Budućnost the backcourt player in 2010 won the European Cup Winners' Cup and 2012 the EHF Champions League, as well as 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013, the league and cup double.

In 2007 Knežević first drew international attention when she was top scorer at the U- 17 European Championship with 65 hits. In the U -20 World Cup 2010 she won a surprise 3rd place with the Montenegrin team. At the end of the tournament Knežević was elected to the All- Star team.

Kneževićs first international tournament with the Montenegrin women's team was the European Championship 2010. Followed a year later for them with the world championship the next big tournament. In summer 2012 Knežević Montenegro took part in the Olympic Games in London, where she won the silver medal. In the same year she won the European Championship with Montenegro.
