Milenko Ačimovič

Milenko Ačimovič (* 15 February 1977 in Ljubljana, Yugoslavia ) is a former Slovenian football player.

Career

Ačimovič began his career in the home at Železničar Maribor. In 1996 he moved to NK Olimpija Ljubljana, from where he moved to FK Red Star Belgrade in Serbia. He was at Red Star twice each champion and cup winner in Serbia and Montenegro. In 2002 he moved to England to Tottenham Hotspur, but where he could not assert himself enough. After a further two years at Lille in France Ačimovič went to Al -Ittihad. After a year in Saudi Arabia, he moved in January 2007 to Austria Wien. Here he soon became one of the key players. Ačimovič was in the 2008 /09 season along with Rubin Okotie with 14 top scorer of his club. In addition, he scored in a 3-1 victory in the FA Cup final in 2009 against Admira Mödling the two decisive goal in extra time. His strengths include shooting from free kicks and corner kicks. In the 13th round of the Bundesliga season 2008/ 09 18 October 2008 against LASK he met with a corner kick directly into the goal. Since the 2009/10 season he was the team captain. At Easter, he pulled a knee injury from the never recovered properly. On 15 September he was therefore the end of his career known.

He celebrated his international debut for Slovenia on 22 April 1998 against the Czech Republic. He took part in both the European Championship in 2000 as well as at the World Cup in 2002 and graduated three games. At the World Cup, he scored a goal.
