Miles Sound System

The Miles Sound System (MSS ), formerly Audio Interface Library ( AIL ) is a middleware primarily for computer games, mostly as an alternative for simple audio chipsets will use. It uses little processor time while providing an adequate audio output. She was originally a middleware driver library for sound cards in DOS applications, as there was no viable alternative. RAD Game Tools acquired the technology in 1995 by Miles Design. The original publication was in 1991.

AIL version 2 for DOS was released by John Miles as open source code. The package is available on its website ( KE5FX ) and contains code for both programs in real mode and protected mode.
