Miliduch

Miliduch († 806 ) was a Sorbian rulers.

About dominion and constitutional political position Miliduchs the research is still at odds. According to the Annales regni Francorum he was only dux, that prince. According to the Chronicon Moissacense he was against king ( rex ).

Even the name is specified differently in the sources: the Annales call him Miliduoch, in Chronicon Moissacense to find the readings Melito and Nusito. Put themselves in older and younger research literature different spellings. In Sorbian he is commonly named as Miliduch.

It is certain that he in the spring or summer of the year 806 in battle at the river Elbe from the Frankish troops who were under the command of the Great Charles the Younger, a son of Charles, was defeated and killed.

" Et inde post non multos this Aquasgrani veniens Karlum filium suum in terram Sclavorum, qui dicuntur Sorabi, qui sedent super Albim Fluvium, cum exercitu Misit; in qua expeditione Miliduoch Sclavorum dux interfectus est, duoque castella from exercitu aedificata, unum super ripam Fluminis Salae, alterum iuxta Fluvium Albim.
