The New Zealand Military Ordinariate is a Military Ordinariate of New Zealand and is responsible for the New Zealand armed forces.

History

The New Zealand Military Ordinariate supervised members of the New Zealand armed forces of Catholic religious affiliation pastoral. It was Pope Paul VI. created as a military vicariate on 28 October 1976. After a mutual decision between the Holy See and New Zealand is the seat of the New Zealand Military Diocese in Upper Hutt. It was elevated to a diocese by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution spirituality Soldiers curae on July 21, 1986.
