Mill scale

As a combustion is known in metallurgy for the loss of metal, resulting in a fire, gassing, spraying, or oxidizing, slagging.

Metal processing

In metal working produced loss of material on metal surfaces by the oxidation of the metal under the action of oxygen and other oxidizing gases at high temperatures. These include the small iron oxide platelets (Fe3O4, hammered or scale ), the jump from the workpiece during forging of iron. The term scale and descaling in metallurgy refers to the similarity of this Abbrennvorganges with the smoldering of ignition material to make fire (scale). See also: scaling, descaling.

Land burning

  • Residue in the roasting of sulfur ores.

Electrical Engineering

  • Removal of contact material by sparking ( Grobabbrand ) or micro-welding ( Feinabbrand ). This can occur, for example, to relay contacts.
