Miller County (Georgia)

The Miller County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) Colquitt is named after Walter Colquitt, a senator, prosecutor and judge.

Geography

The County is located in southwest Georgia, about 25 miles from Alabama and south about 40 miles from Florida is located in the west. It has an area of 735 square kilometers, of which two square kilometers is water area, and borders clockwise to the following counties: Baker County, Decatur County, Seminole County and Early County.

History

Miller County was formed on February 26, 1856 from parts of Baker County and Early County. It was named after Judge Andrew J. Miller, commander of the Oglethorpe Infantry, member of the government and multiple President of the U.S. Senate.
