Milt Herth

Milton " Milt " Herth ( born March 11, 1902 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, † June 18, 1969 in Las Vegas, Nevada) was an American jazz organist.

Milt Herth was a well known in the 1930s jazz organist who played the Hammond organ soon after it was invented. Herth came from Wisconsin, got a job in 1935 as an organist at a local radio station and played from 1937 with jazz pianist Willie "The Lion" Smith in Chicago, at the recordings for Decca Records he worked. Herth, Smith and drummer O'Neill Spencer then founded the Milt Herth Trio, which was extended in April 1938 with Teddy Bunn on guitar quartet. and for Decca, Owl and Coral Records a series of 78ern grossed, including Versions of popular standards such as Basin Street Blues, Lambeth Walk, With me you're beautiful or Black and Tan Fantasy.

Herth, who also played with Louis Armstrong and Billy Kyle, also also ( appeared in various short films, such as Love and Onions (1935 ), Swing Style (1939) and Jingle Belles, (1941 ), in the longer feature film Juke Box Jenny 1942 ) He died in 1969 in Las Vegas.
