Milton Pettit

Milton H. Pettit (* 1835 in Fabius, Onondaga County, New York, † 1873) was an American politician and from 1872 until his death, Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin.

Pettit came at the age of eleven years to Wisconsin. His family settled in Somers, a small community near Kenosha, down. 1854 Petit moved to Kenosha and was in the grain industry operates.

Pettit was in Kenosha a respected member of the Republican Party and was a member of the city council. 1861, 1865 and 1867, he was elected mayor of the city. In 1869 he was elected to the Senate from Wisconsin and 1871, the Vice Governor of the State. After taking office in 1872 his health began to deteriorate soon and Pettit died in the spring of 1873.
