Mimeo

Mimeo is a term for an unpublished manuscript or discussion paper, which can be found in scientific literature, directories, mainly in English-speaking area. It is derived from mimeographing, a formerly widespread duplication process.

Scientists have early drafts of research papers are often produced by mimeograph, stencil or photocopier in small quantities and distributed to their colleagues. The next development step after revision of the essay would be published as a discussion paper, often in an official number or, as a final step, the publication in a scientific journal. At the present time a Mimeo would correspond approximately to a widely by e -mail, early version of a research paper.

Identifies a researcher in the bibliography of a publication, a source with the addition of " mimeo ," then this means that he refers to this manuscript. This is not publicly available in general, but only directly available from the author. One reason for a citation as Mimeo may also be that the publication of thought takes place from the source until after the cut-off date of the citing publication.
