Mimos

The Malaysian Institute of Microelectronic Systems ( MIMOS ) is a research and development organization that is supported by the Malaysian government. MIMOS specializes in information and communication technology (ICT ) and Microelectronics.

History

MIMOS was founded in January 1985 and was then a unit of the Office of the Prime Minister. 1990 MIMOS was expanded and became a separate department of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment. 1994 MIMOS was appointed to the post of the Secretariat of the National IT Council ( NITC ) and played an important role in the development of the framework for the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC).

In 1996, the institute was renamed in MIMOS Berhad. The tasks included at this time, research and development, development of IT policies, economic development.

2003, the remit IT policies was transferred to the Malaysian Ministry of Energy, Communications and Multimedia. Since research and development is the main task of MIMOS Berhad. The existing economic units to be sold.
