Mingo Junction is a village in Jefferson County, Ohio, United States along the Ohio River. The population was 3631 inhabitants at the 2000 census.

1900 was its only production facility in a steel mill, which was operated by the Carnegie Steel Company. At the time already lived about 3000 inhabitants in the town, 1910, there were 4000 to 1940 the population rose to 5192.

History

The place is named after the Indian tribe of the Mingo, who had built before the colonization of the area by European immigrants, a village on the site of the present church. In Mingo Junction began in May 1787 Crawford expedition of 500 volunteers from Pennsylvania against the Indian tribes in the area of ​​Ohio. Here, the Lenni Lenape took revenge against the imprisoned whites for the Gnadenhutten massacre of members of their race in Gnadenhutten.
