Mini-Z

Mini-Z is a RC car car class, on a scale from 1:24-28 Japanese Kyosho.

By the relative small scale the car to fit the palm of an adult human. Thus, a driving on a small area is possible. The power of the models is done exclusively electrically, by means of four batteries of type AAA ( Micro_ (battery) ). For optimum engine performance usually NiMH batteries be used with 700-900 mAh.

The manufacturer offers a large number of different bodies for this series. These are modeled on the original vehicles in detail and provided with a protective lacquer. Furthermore, they offer Kyosho and contractors, the bodies of unpainted. These are sealed with a protective coating such as in RC Model usual, multiple painted, with decals ( decals ) and pasted. In addition, self-built lighting of the headlights and taillights are possible in this class.

Is the wheelbase of the vehicle is depending on car bodies, 86, 90, 94, 98, 102 and 106 mm. The chassis types and motor mounts, the car can be adapted to the different bodies. Model MR -03 is the only type that can be adapted to all bodies.

Through various motors and corresponding drive ratios very different acceleration and speeds are possible. The average speed is about 30 km / h When steering by driving more tuning parts are adjustable. These include the camber, suspension angle and suspension. The suspension on the rear axle is influenced by a connecting piece between the motor mount and chassis. This joint is called depending on the model "T- bar " or "H - Bar " and may consist of plastic or carbon fiber.

In this RC - class national and international races are held. For several years the manufacturer in Germany operates once a year, the race event " International Mini-Z Masters", which has lost in recent years in importance and in the shadow of the PN World Cup ( PNWC ) and the European Mini-Z Cup ( EMC ) is entered.

In the sports and leisure facility CATZ Sports in batch field outside of Hamburg was on 30 October 2010 with a length of 138.40 meters, a world record, a according to the official regulations of Guinness World Records for the longest Mini-Z track on the race was held erected.

Chassis types

  • MR -01 ( the original Mini-Z )
  • MR -015 ( The MR -01 chassis with improved electronics, servo saver and rear shock, the width of the chassis and the battery assembly is the same )
  • MR 02 ( The MR -01 chassis has been completely redesigned with improved electronics, servo saver, lower center of gravity of the batteries, wider front )
  • MR - 02LM ( An extension of the MR02 with 2.4 GHz ASF electronics, wider rear and wider front, longer wheelbase, improved engine mount and friction damper )
  • MR-015/02 iSeries (same chassis as MR-015/02, but with simplified electronics and without brake) Mini-Z AWD with SAS
  • MR -03 ( new chassis with dynamic camber and front damping and a new ASF receiver, adjustable front range to suit all bodies)
  • MR -03 Sports ( new entry-level chassis with dynamic camber and front damping but with simple electronics and other 2.4 GHz wireless system see, for MR -03 chassis)

  • MF -010 ( Formula One style open- wheel )
  • MF -015 ( Formula One style open- wheel with a narrow chassis)
  • MV -01 ( SUV / SUV variant)
  • MM -01 ( monster truck version)
  • MB -010 ( Mini-Z Buggy with all-wheel drive )
  • Mini-Z LIT (Compact 1/28th RC car, compared to a 1/32 scale car)
  • NASCAR Series ( a MR - 015i with a longer wheelbase)
  • Formula Boat (RC boat with trailer for Overland )

Frequency bands

  • ON 27 MHz
  • AD -band ( not approved in Germany )
  • 2.4 GHz

The 2.4 GHz radio system is now standard in the professional exercise, as it offers many advantages. The system is much less susceptible to interference, since adapting sensor suitable frequencies are used. Thus, while obviating the consultation with other drivers on the occupied frequency. In addition, a race with up to 40 concurrent drivers therefore is possible. Each manufacturer uses in the 2.4 GHz technology its own proprietary radio system. This other systems from other manufacturers are not compatible with the Mini -Z. Kyosho cooperates with the partner KoPropo and the ASF system used (Auto Selected Frequency System ).

Remote controls

The 27MHz AM Mini-Z models were shipped with simple, non- computer-assisted remote controls. In the MR -01 chassis, it was the Perfex KT- 2, MR -02, MR -015, MA-010/AWD, monsters, Overland and Formula 1, the Perfex KT- fifth The newer models such as MR -02 ASF, MA-010/AWD ASF, MR -03, Formula 1 ASF and ASF Overland, the Perfex KT- 18 are ordered together. At 27 MHz AT - models, each remote control can be used, which runs at 27 MHz AM. The ASF vehicles, however, can only be driven with certain remote control due to the Kyosho / Kopropo - own transmission protocol. Starting at the Low-Cost Perfex KT- 18 and the Kopropo EX- 5UR ASF. Furthermore, it is possible to use a so-called remote control module. For this purpose the Kopropo is 2.4GHz ASF module requires (RF - 901sm ). With this module you can use the following remote controls:

  • Kopropo Mars
  • Kopropo Mars EX -1 UR
  • Kopropo EX- 5UR
  • Kopropo Helios EX -10
  • Kopropo Eurus EX -10 (also available with the faster RF - 902SM ASF module)
  • Kopropo EX-1 KIY
  • Kopropo Esprit 3 Universe
  • Sanwa / Airtronic M8 (with adapter)
  • Sanwa / Airtronic M11 (only with adapter)
  • Futaba 3PK (only with adapter)

The new MR -03 sport models can be used only with the Perfex currently contained in the set KT -19 remote control.

Timekeeping

In professional racing circuits, a time measurement is essential because only as reliable qualifications and race ratings can be made. Moreover, this is also the training essential to eg to find the correct tuning for the car. From the Manufacturer two measuring systems are offered:

  • Lap -Z ( light barrier system )
  • IC tag (RFID system )
  • Lap Counter ( light barrier system )
