Minister of State (Belgium)

The title of Minister of State ( Dutch: Minister van State, French: Ministre d' État ) in Belgium is a purely honorary title without any financial compensation, which is awarded for lifetime politicians who have proven the state special services. The appointment is done by royal decree on the proposal from the federal government. The Minister of State belong to the so-called Privy Council, an advisory body to the King, which was, however, not been convened since 1960.
