Minnedosa, Manitoba

Minnedosa is a small town with about 2400 inhabitants in the southwest of the Canadian province of Manitoba.

History

The city's name is derived from the Sioux word for ' fast flowing water ' from.

The first white settlers John Tanner taught in 1869 a ferry across the Little Saskatchewan River one, the construction of a bridge in 1879 made ​​this obsolete. As the actual founder of the city is Joseph Armitage, in 1879 some parcels bought by the river and organized the colonization of the area. In 1883 the church became independent.
