Minnesota Point

Geographical location

Minnesota Point ( also Park Point, formerly La Pointe ) is a peninsula at the mouth of the Saint Louis River in Lake Superior. It is one of Duluth, Minnesota. With an average width of 150 meters and a length of eleven kilometers, it is considered the longest sandbar in a freshwater lake.

Minnesota Point is a part located at the mouth of the Saint Louis River, Lake Superior, consistent Sanda storage between Duluth and Superior, Wisconsin. A small natural flow separates Minnesota Point in the north- west by the significantly shorter Wisconsin Point in the southwest. On Minnesota Point is home to around 1,500 inhabitants. It represents a popular recreation area and has its own airport (Sky Harbor Airport ). The peninsula was isolated in 1871 by a channel from the mainland. Minnesota Point is connected to the lift bridge with Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge.
