Minnesota State Highway 74

Minnesota State Route 74 is a 48 -mile State Route in the southwest of the U.S. state of Minnesota, which runs from Chatfield to the Mississippi River. It is the only road of the highway system in Minnesota, which includes an unpaved section. The route runs from north to south.

The road starts at the intersection of U.S. Highway 52 and State Route 30 in Chatfield. It leads to the north by the municipalities of Troy and Saratoga the junction with Interstate 90, just south of St. Charles. In St. Charles, the road is up to the merger with U.S. Highway 14, Whitewater Avenue called Main Street. With the Highway 14 Route 30 leads for a little less than a mile to the west and turns to the north, where the route through the Whitewater State Park and the town of Elba leads. At the northern end of this section are 7 miles ( 11 km) by road from an unpaved section with gravel surface. The road ends at U.S. Highway 61 in Weaverville on the Mississippi River.

The highway began earlier further south of Chatfield, so the miles count starts at 20 today. In parts of the route of an old road that is one of the first public roads in Minnesota follows. On 18 and 19 April the heavy waters of Whitewater River ( Minnesota) destroyed several bridges and washed out the road. 2008, all repair work had been completed.
