Mions
Mions is a commune with 11,943 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Rhône department in the Rhône -Alpes. Mions is the most populous municipality in the canton of Saint- Symphorien- d'Ozon. The inhabitants are called Miolands.
Geography
Mions is located about 15 kilometers south of Lyon and is surrounded by the neighboring communes of Saint -Priest in the north, Toussieu in the east, Saint- Pierre -de- Chandieu to the southeast, the southwest and Chaponnay Corbas in the West.
History
As mentioned Méons 1193 in the books of the Church at Lyons, the village was changed in 1350 in the late Middle Ages between Dauphin and the Count of Savoy.
The village belonged until 1967 to the Isere department, as she moved to the present Rhône department
