Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani

Sayyid Ali Hamadhani (* 1314 Hamadan, † 1384 in Swat ) was an Islamic mystic (see Sufism ) Persian descent and a member of the Tariqa Kubrawiyya ( Kubrawiyya - dervish orders ).

He came from a distinguished family and enjoyed during his youth an education that was based on the teachings of the Sufis. Later he toured the eastern Islamic areas up to Ceylon, in 1371 he reached Kashmir. According to tradition, he arrived there with a retinue of 700 followers. Since this area was only recently converted to Islam, Hamadhani wore clear the way for Muslim thought in Kashmir are at home to let.

Hamadhani published several comments on religious and mystical works, including Ibn Arabi's Fusus al - hikam. In addition, he himself wrote a number of works in Arabic and Persian.

His grave is located in Srinagar, the grave mosque is above a Hindu ritual space. The ' urs ( death anniversary celebration ) is a big celebration in this city until the present. After the death Hamadhanis the Kubrawiyya lost its influence in the Indian subcontinent and has been replaced over time by the Chishtiyya, Suhrawardiyya, Qadiriyyah and from about 1600 the Naqschbandiyya.
