Mirabella Imbaccari

Mirabella is a city in the Province of Catania in the Italian region Sicily, with 5118 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Location and data

Mirabella is located 75 km west of Catania. The inhabitants mainly work in agriculture, the timber industry and the crafts.

The neighboring municipalities are Caltagirone and Piazza Armerina.

History

The village was founded in the late Middle Ages. In the 1818 earthquake, the village was largely destroyed and larger then rebuilt.
