Miramas

Miramas is a French town with 25 265 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bouches -du -Rhone, not far from Marseille.

Miramas was probably founded in the 5th century BC as a village miramas le Vieux on a rock overlooking the valley of the Etang de Berre. The settlement in the year 964 was first documented the actual city miramas owes its existence to the opening of the railway line Arles -Marseille in 1848. As a marshalling yard for the nearby Marseille it is growing fast and is gaining through the industrial zone at Fos -sur -Mer later and through the airport at Marseille Marignane further economic importance.

On a former race track set 1963 as standard Ford 12M P4 at a long distance test drive more than 100 world records. In 1986, BMW bought this disused track and worked it to a test site to test there for years regardless of time vehicles and motorcycles. The test site is complemented by a high- speed line.

Miramas is the terminus of the railway lines of the SNCF ( French National Railways ) to Marseille, a line goes straight, the other along the sea, railway stations, inter alia: Sausset -les -Pins, Carry-le- Rouet and Ensuès la Redonne.
