History
For the first time officially mentioned was the place as a fixture, which was conquered by the Arabs in 1116 and partially destroyed. D.Afonso Henriques gave the place, after its recapture during the Reconquista, the first town charter in 1136 and built the fortress again. Since the reign of D.Afonso II (1211-1223) Miranda is a self- loop ( concelho ). By incorporations, especially in the course of administrative reform mid-19th century, the county was significantly increased. Its current nickname do Corvo (German: Raven ), by changing previous name attachments, Miranda was only in the 16th century.
In the course of the fighting at the end of the Napoleonic wars in the Iberian Peninsula the place suffered in 1811 extensive damage to humans and buildings.
