Miravalles Volcano

Miravalles

The Miravalles is a 2028 m high stratovolcano in north-western Costa Rica. It is located in the Guanacaste province near the Rincon de la Vieja.

The crater was formed million years ago, about 0.6 to 1.5 by several explosive eruptions. The only eruption observed by humans was a small gas explosion on the southwest flank of the volcano in 1946.
