Mircea Dobrescu

Mircea Dobrescu ( born September 5, 1930) is a former Romanian boxer. Dobrescu was silver medalist at the European Championships in 1955 and 1957 and the Olympic Games in 1956.

Career

1952 started Dobrescu first time at the Olympics. After victories in the flyweight ( 51kg - ) on Yoshitaro Nagata, Japan ( 2-1 ), and Roland Johansson, Sweden ( 3:0), he retired in the quarterfinals to eventual Olympic champion Nathan Brooks, United States ( 2:1), from.

At the European Championships in 1953 Dobrescu difference in the preliminary round against Edgar Basel, Germany (3-0), from. However, after victories over Jose Neves Martins, Brazil (5:0), and Paul Chervet, Switzerland (KO 1 ), he left again at the quarter- final against Kiyoshi Tanabe, Japan ( 4:1), from.

After Dobrescu 1961 retired again at the European Championships in the quarterfinals against Stolnikov, he finished his career.
