Mirko Bortolotti

Mirko Bortolotti (born 10 January 1990 in Trento ) is an Austrian racing driver of Italian citizenship. In 2008 he won the Italian Formula 3 Championship and the 2011 Formula 2

Career

From 1995 to 2005 he was mainly active in karting. Initially, in the Austrian Championship, which he won several awards. Towards the end of his career in karting, he was then propagated traveling in Italy, as well as in the European Kart Championship. In 2005, he dared to climb into formula racing and made ​​his debut in the winter series of Italian Formula Renault. After he finished 13th overall in his first season, he was fourth in the 2006 standings. In addition, the Italian won Azzurra the runner-up title of the formula. In 2007 he rose to the Italian Formula 3 Championship. There fetched already in the debut year a fourth place in the championship and his first victory. 2008 should further nine victories, and the championship to follow.

As a reward for the Italian Formula 3 championship Bortolotti allowed to participate in Formula 1 test driving the Scuderia Ferrari at Fiorano. It succeeded him set up a new lap record. Bortolotti 2009, launched in the revived Formula 2 with a win, the Italians import the second round in Brno, he finished at the end of season fourth overall. He also participated as a guest driver part in a race weekend of the Formula 3 Euro Series and finished third at Sunday's race to the finish. 2010 moved Bortolotti for Addax Team in the newly founded GP3 Series. He was also a member of the junior program of Ferrari this year. 2011 Bortolotti returned to the Formula 2. He immediately won and the Nürburgring and in Barcelona he even succeeded, for both races to decide to bring both pole position and in each case to achieve the fastest lap. Bortolotti was always among the top six drivers to the finish. At his home race at Monza, he secured with victory clinched the Formula 2 championship. In total he scored this year 7 wins and 14 podium finishes from 16 races. As a prize for winning the title he was given the opportunity to participate for Williams Formula 1 test drives.

Personal

Bortolottis parents run an ice cream parlor in Vienna, which is why he has spent much time in Austria.
