Mirko Tremaglia

Pierantonio Mirko Tremaglia ( born November 17, 1926 in Bergamo, † December 30, 2011 ibid ) was an Italian politician.

Biography

After high school in Bergamo, he joined with 17 years as a volunteer of the Guardia Nazionale Repubblicana of Benito Mussolini's Italian Social Republic in. After imprisonment by the Allies, he studied law, which he also received his doctorate. He gained admission to the bar.

Political career

He was a member of the Camera dei deputati from 1972 until his death, first for the Movimento Sociale Italiano under Giorgio Almirante, and later for the National Alliance and Popolo della Libertà. Last - since July 2010 - he was among the members of the FLI.

Within the party, he became involved in each case for the care of Italians abroad. Its main aim was to promote such political suffrage in Italy.

After the political realignment of the National Alliance in January 1995 at the Party Congress of Fiuggi he supported Gianfranco Fini. For this he organized in 1995 a trip to the United States of America, where contacts with the government and with the Jewish community were made.

From 11 June 2001 to 17 May 2006, he was Minister for Italians in the world under Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. In this role, he reached a constitutional amendment - Lex Tremaglia called - which strengthened the political influence of the voting Italians abroad from 2006.
