Mirmo!

Mirmo! (Japaneseわがまま ☆ フェアリー ミルモ で ポン! Wagamama Fairy Mirumo de Pon! ) is a manga series of the Japanese illustrator Hiromu Shinozuka, which is aimed at young girls and is thus assigned to the shōjo genus. It was implemented as an anime series.

Action

Mirmo! appeared in Japan from September 2001 to January 2006 in individual chapters in high-circulation manga magazine Ciao in which, among other things, Kiyoko Arai Beauty Pop was released at the same time. The Shogakukan publishing house brought this single chapter from February 2002 out in twelve anthologies.

The manga was published in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, France, Italy, South Korea, Germany and in the United States. The German translation will appear at Carlsen Comics since July 2006. So far, twelve anthologies have been published.

Success and Awards

The anthologies sold in Japan over two million times.

Shinozuka won for Mirmo! The 2003 Kodansha Manga Award. The manga was the first winner of the year newly introduced category of children. In 2004 he was awarded the Shogakukan Manga Award.

Filming

From April 2002 to September 2005 ran on the Japanese broadcaster TV Tokyo an anime television series based on the manga. The series, in which Kenichi Kasai directed, includes 172 episodes and was a great success. It radiated from the series in South Korea, the United States, Brazil, Taiwan, Malaysia, Mexico, Italy, Hong Kong, Spain, China and the Philippines.
