Miroljub Labus

Miroljub Labus ( Serbian Cyrillic Мирољуб Лабус ) ( born February 28, 1947 in Mala Krsna, Yugoslavia ) is an economist and politician.

He began his political career in 1992 when he was elected to the Parliament of rump Yugoslavia. In 1994 he became vice-president of the Democratic Party, Zoran Djindjic below. He held this position until 1997. In 1999, he was Chairman of G17 Plus movement. In 2000 he was, after the overthrow of Slobodan Milošević, Deputy Prime Minister of Yugoslavia and Minister of International Economic Relations. During the 2002 presidential election Labus running against Minister Vojislav Kostunica. The elections were declared void because the turnout was below 50 percent. In late summer 2002, the transformation of the G17 began in a full-fledged political party of the center and Labus was its president.

In March 2004, he became Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, but resigned his seat on 3 May 2006 low, after the EU suspended talks with Serbia because of the lack of arrest of Ratko Mladic. He also resigned as president of the G17 Plus.
