Mirza Abolhassan Khan Ilchi

Mirza was Abolhasan Khan Ilchi († August 4, 1846 also listed as Mirza Abu al- Hassan Ilchi, Mirza Abdul Hassan Khan, Mirza Abu al -Hasan Khan Ilchi, Mirza Abdallah Hasan and Mirza Aboul Hassan Khan; ; * 1776 in Shiraz ) a Persian writer, ambassador and foreign minister.

Life

Abolhassan Khan Ilchi was 1809 Envoy and Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1823 of Fath Ali Shah. During his tenure as Ambassador to the Court of St James's broke the Franco- Persian alliance. His travelogue Heyratnameh was translated by Joseph von Hammer- Purgstall in Vienna and served as model for the fictional representation of The Adventures of Hajji Baba of Isfahan.
