Misenus

Misenos ( altgr.: Μισηνός, Latin: Misenus ) is a figure in Greek mythology. He was only the trumpeter of Hector, after whose death he became the companion of Aeneas.

Together with Aeneas came Misenos to Italy, where he drew the ire of Triton on himself by on his instrument, a trumpet snails played. The angry sea god drowned him unceremoniously, after Aeneas left bury the corpse on a promontory that was named after him Misenum.

A cited by Strabo tradition calls Misenos as companions of Odysseus, who was killed in an accident on the coast of Campania.
