Misfits of Science

The Misfits ( Original title: Misfits of Science) is a 1985 produced by James D. Parriott for NBC Universal American TV series that combines elements of science fiction, action and comedy. Including the 90-minute pilot film were produced 16 episodes; for broadcast in Germany, the pilot sequence is divided into two episodes.

In France, the series ran under the name Super Minds and in Brazil as Curto Circuito ( " short ").

Content

The scientist Dr. Billy Hayes and Dr. El Lincoln working on Humanidyne Institute in Los Angeles, where they explore human with unusual abilities. Most randomly get the specialists in every episode of a new case of Billy and El of the discourages research that are intended for them by their employer Humanidyne. Donors is next Humanidyne also the U.S. military, but also often advised by the specialists in conflict.

Others

Two main characters died early at the age of 35 years:

  • Dean Paul Martin, son of Dean Martin died on 21 March 1987 in a plane crash in the San Gorgonio Mountains in California. He was pilot of an F -4 Phantom Jet Fighter of the National Guard.
  • Kevin Peter Hall died on 10 April 1991, in the immune deficiency disease AIDS; he had received infected blood products after an accident.

The series ran in parallel in the United States on NBC on Dynasty on ABC and received low ratings, which contributed to the early setting.

The story of twin motors episode was written by Tim Kring, creator of the series Heroes, in which it is also about people with super powers.

With Larry Linville and Ray Walston two well-known actors took leading roles in an episode ever.

DVD Release

On 25 January 2008, the series was published in Germany as the only country in the world on DVD. It consists of a set of five discs that includes all episodes and not emitted in the United States final episode. The numbering of German television broadcasting, for each sequence, the original U.S. leader is used.
