Misirlou

" Misirlou " (Greek: Μισιρλού ' Egyptian Girl ') is an originally authored as rebetiko song, which initially enjoyed great popularity in the Middle East. The first recording from 1927 is from Tetos Demetriades. Worldwide success was " Misirlou " by surf -rock version of Dick Dale from the year 1962. Since the song was recorded in various versions, for example, of the Beach Boys. By using in the movie Pulp Fiction of 1994, the song gained renewed prominence.

The Misirlou is a dance at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh was created in the U.S. by Brunhilde cod using the Greek dances syrtos, Chasapiko and Chaniotikos 1945. It is danced to the same song Misirlou in an open circuit. Outside Greece he is often referred to as a traditional Greek dance.
