Mišo Cebalo

Miso Cebalo ( born February 6, 1945 in Zagreb) is a Croatian chess grandmaster. He won in 2009 the 19th World Chess Championship of seniors in Condino.

He learned chess at the age of 5 years by his father, who was a good chess player. At age 13, he played in the local chess clubs and at 20 he took part in the Yugoslav championship in Titograd. He then studied languages ​​at the University of Zagreb and played during this time very little. In the student - team World Cup 1967 in Harrachov he came to board 4 of the Yugoslav team at 4.5 points from 9 games. From 1977 he played regularly again and received in 1978 the title of International Master. Two years later, he achieved his first grandmaster norm, but was given the title until 1985, when he arrived at the Yugoslav Championship after playoff against tournament winner Slavoljub Marjanović at No. 2 and won the tournament area of Kavala. Interzonal in Taxco he came to the split 6 - 7th Place. He also played in many open tournaments, especially in Italy.

Cebalo took for Croatia at two Chess Olympiads, in Manila 1992 Board 1 ( 3.5 points from 9 games ) and in Moscow, 1994 to board 4 (1.5 points from 4 games).

His Elo rating is 2495 (as of November 2010). In 2011 he received the title of FIDE Senior Trainer.
