Miss Austria

Miss Austria is an annual national beauty pageant for unmarried women in Austria. It was first held on 29 January 1929. The event was the Neue Wiener Tageblatt. Already in 1931 the competition took place for the last time before the Second World War instead, although in the 1930s or regional beauty contests for titles such as Miss Tirol, Miss Vienna Danube and queen took place.

After the war, there were initially different promoters. From 1958 led Erich Reindl ( born August 31, 1931) and won the competition by Max Factor cosmetics company in the following year as a sponsor. His Miss Austria Corporation sold Reindl 1994. Managing Director as well as fifty percent partnership today Emil Bauer.

In the late 1980s has been for three years a separate competition to the Miss World Austria organized by the former model Lilo Hoffmann, whose delegates all came at the Miss World in the Top 10. The event was also known as Miss World Austria.

Another competition - competition for the Miss Austria from 1986 led by Erich Saida, but gave up after a few years.

A new competition to the Miss Austria leads since 2007 the Miss Austria Corporation KG in Vienna under management by Clara and Sorin Popescu through.

At the Miss Austria to take part in the two first place winners of each state. That is, in the final round to take 18 candidates from the 9 federal states. The Miss Austria is then represented Austria at the Miss World and the runner-up at the Miss Europe. This is implemented for the Miss World but only since 1997 consistently.

By the way, bear the winners of individual federal states an English title: Miss Vienna ( Wien) and Miss Styria (Steiermark).
