Missaukee County is a county located in the state of Michigan in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Lake City.

Geography

The County is located in the central northern part of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan and has an area of ​​1486 square kilometers, of which 18 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Kalkaska County, Roscommon County, Clare County, Osceola County, and Wexford County.

History

Missaukee County was formed in 1840 from parts of Mackinac County. It was named after Missaukee, a chief of the Ottawa.
