History

Missing You was released on September 21, 1984 worldwide. It was a number -one hit in the United States and in many countries like Germany a top 20 hit.

The song is 4:01 minutes long, appeared in the album No Brakes and on the B - side is the song For Your Love.

In the song, the protagonist does not sing that one hand he misses his beloved, on the other hand.

In the episode pact with the devil of Miami Vice and the movie Selena - An American Dream you could hear the song, further he could be heard in the game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

Music Video

The music video was filmed in New York City. At the beginning of the clip John Waite sitting in a chair, he sees a picture of a woman and begins to sing the song. When he wants to open the door, the woman comes to him and they embrace in bed. Later, the woman packs her bags, what Waite looks through the door slot and she leaves him. When leaving she bangs on the door, while Waite is behind the door and the door crashes with full force on him. Later, he finds himself in a bar and drinking a glass of wine. After the visit, he sees the woman again in a film studio. As she smiles at him. After Waite calls her from a pay phone, the woman picks up the phone, but to call nervousness he disappears from the phone booth. It runs along the city and sees a picture of the woman on a newspaper, again he goes into a pub. There, another woman tries to flirt with him, but out of sheer grief he is not interested and goes back home. In another scene, he stands on a stage and sings the song, there fails, another attempt to call the woman. At the end goes to sleep. As the woman who had left him to ring again, and as revenge ingnoriert Waite 's wife.

1996 coverte Tina Turner Missing You on their album Wildest Dreams and was able to record a good success both in the UK ( twelfth ) and in France ( ninth place ). On the idea chose to cover the song, Turner came when she learned that her hit What 's Love Got to Do with It was replaced by the John Waite -One - Hit- Wonder on the Billboard Hot 100 1984 from the top. The cover produced Trevor Horn.
