Mississippi State University
The Mississippi State University (also known as MSU ) is a public university in Starkville in the north of the U.S. state of Mississippi. With 16,101 students ( 2005) it is adjacent to the University of Mississippi and the University of Southern Mississippi is the most important university in Mississippi. The university has branches in Meridian and Vicksburg.
History
The university was founded in 1878 as The Agricultural and Mechanical College of the State of Mississippi (Mississippi A & M). Since 1958, it bears its present name.
