Missouri River Otters

The Missouri River Otters were an American ice hockey team from Saint Charles, Missouri. The team played from 1999 to 2006 in the United Hockey League.

History

The team was founded in 1999 as a franchise of the United Hockey League. The greatest success in the seven years of its existence was to reach the second round of the playoffs to the Colonial Cup in the 2000 /01 season. After a walk, the River Otters left with 1:3 victories in the best- of-five series against the Fort Wayne Komets of. In the other seasons, the team never got beyond the first round. During the 2004/05 season the team benefited from the lockout of the National Hockey League and was under contract, the experienced NHL player Barret Jackman, Ryan Johnson, Jamal Mayers, Jim Montgomery, Bryce Salvador and Curtis Sanford. Towards the end of the following season also took over the former NHL pro Jeff Brown, the coach of the River Otters.
