Mistake (criminal law)

As mistake (English, error ') is referred to in the criminal law of England and Wales a defense (~, defense objection '). The English distinguishes between mistake of fact and mistake of law. The mistake of fact, that is a false impression about the actus reus elements of the leads in principle to impunity. An ignorance of the law as a mistake of law, however, is not a recognized defense plea in England.
