Misty in Roots

Misty in Roots are a reggae band that was founded in the early 1970s in London.

History

1975 - 1982: The Beginnings

Initially mid -1970s as a backing band Nicky Thomas ', they drew from that very co motivation and inspiration to develop your own pieces. The political atmosphere of upheaval in England 1977/1978 according to Misty in Roots developed their own interpretations of Roots Reggae, on the African culture and spiritual awakening has been sung. Precisely the atmosphere of upheaval also produced a growing political commitment of the band; Among other things, Misty was in Roots one of the driving forces behind Rock Against Racism, a protest against the growing racism and the increasing importance of the fascist National Front resulting movement. In the name of this movement Misty in Roots played as one of the most active participating groups many solidarity concerts, which developed the famous live potential that distinguished this formation early. Accordingly, the first album Live at the counter Euro Vision 1978 was recorded at a gig in Belgium, not published until a year later. 1982 was the second album Wise and Foolish, on the influences from soul and jazz have been processed.

1982 - 1987: Africa Travel

The quest for preservation of their own independence led the group in 1982 to undertake a nine-month trip to Africa, in the course of which they visited Zimbabwe and Zambia. These trips should have great influence on the first of the last years of joint work. So the next two albums had been directly influenced and inspired by these trips. The 1983 released album Earth denounces in particular the destruction of the earth by ignorance and cruelty. Musi O Tunya was then two years later, published in 1985, and reflected in their own words the deep affection the band over Africa. The refers to the impressive natural spectacle that offer the Victoria Falls - Musi O Tunya means as much as crashing smoke. During 1987, the Group undertook a long journey to West Africa, of our own home, their re- entry to the return from exile is compared. In the course of this journey came Duxie Tyson, one of the brothers who formed the creative backbone of the band, in a swimming accident. This sad chapter in the band's history is not mentioned in the official version and will holistically dealt with a few words.

1988 - 1989: Publication of the time last album

Before the group lodged a musical break, which should last a decade, appeared the album forward, which is located in the developing friendship between the band and Kaz Records founded and represented a further culmination of the art of the band in 1989.

1999 - 2005: resumption of joint work

Around the turn of the millennium were reunified and recording joint creation, contrary to the trends of the 1990s, seamlessly anknüpfte, to the recent styles. Thus appeared the reunion album Roots Controller in 2002 another roots-reggae album that the perennial disruption of the joint work can not be let on.
