Mitch Leigh

Mitch Leigh ( born January 30, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York, † March 16, 2014 in Manhattan, New York; actually Irwin Michnick ) was an American composer and theatrical producer.

Biography

Mitch Leigh attended Yale University in New Haven. There he was instructed by Paul Hindemith. Later, he wrote plays, composed operas, advertising music and jazz pieces. His biggest success was the musical Man of La Mancha, which he co-wrote with Dale Wasserman (Book ), and Joe Darion ( lyrics). Later, he founded the organization Music Makers, which specialized in advertising jingles.
