Mitchell " Mitch " Langerak ( born August 22, 1988 in Emerald, Queensland ) is an Australian football player. The goalkeeper won with Melbourne Victory 2009, the Australian national championship and joined the 2010/11 season to the later German champions Borussia Dortmund.

Career

Early days in Australia

Langerak long remained undetected by youth development programs and was accepted in 2006 at the Australian Institute of Sport. On the recommendation of the Association goalkeeper coach Tony Franken graduated Langerak 2007, a trial with reigning champions Melbourne Victory and eventually received a two-year contract. The first two years in the professional sector remained Langerak substitute keeper behind Michael Theoklitos to his league debut, he came on the final day of the season 2007/08. When championship win in the 2008 /09 season Langerak came to a total of four inserts.

After the departure of Theoklitos in the summer of 2009, Langerak was in a fight with newcomer Glen Moss for the vacant space on the goalkeeper position. It initially set by the five year old New Zealand international goalkeeper Moss, Langerak but replaced this after the 14th match day, when the team conceded a 0-4 defeat at home to Central Coast Mariners. He stayed the rest of the season goalkeeper of Melbourne and reached with the team the championship final against rivals Sydney FC. The game finally decided Sydney 4-2 in a penalty shootout in itself, a holding penalty by Langerak ultimately not enough.

Borussia Dortmund

Since July 1, 2010, Langerak players of the German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund, where he received the shirt number 20. The transfer was announced on 13 May 2010, but did not leave until after the season and the release of its association vonstatten. Langerak replaced the previous goalkeeper Marc Ziegler, who left the BVB in Stuttgart, and is therefore as number 2 behind goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller available. On October 7, 2010, he was honored by the Australian Professional Footballers' Association as an Australian Rookie of the Year with Harry Kewell Medal. His league debut came on 26 February 2011 ( 24th Round ) in a 3-1 win in the away game against Bayern Munich, when he represented the injury failed Roman Weidenfeller. With the Borussia he was in season 2010/11 German masters. Nearly a year after the championship Langerak was defending on matchday 32 of the 2011/12 season with Borussia Dortmund for the second time in his career German master and to the title in the year 2011. On 12 May 2012, he appeared as a substitute in the DFB Cup final in the first half for the injured Roman Weidenfeller and won with the BVB the first double in their history. After the season 2011/12 he extended his run until 30 June 2014 contract early by two years until 2016.

National

2006 belonged to the Australian Langerak squad at the U- 19 Asian Cup but had to after the opening match his place in goal at Tando Velaphi exits. From the Australian caretaker coach Han Berger Langerak was nominated in August 2010 on call for the international match against Slovenia, a few months later listed the new national team coach Holger Osieck Langerak as one of seven goalkeepers on a comprehensive 50 player provisional list with regard to the Asia Cup in 2011, a nomination the 23 -strong tournament squad remained from though.

His first appointment to the line-up of A-National team, he finally received in March 2011 for a friendly against Germany in Moenchengladbach. At his debut he came in October 2013 at a 0:6 defeat against France.
