MitOst

MitOst is a club and international network to promote cultural exchange and active citizenship with a focus on Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe and its neighboring regions. Founded in 1996 as a platform for networking and project work, the association today an umbrella for several foundation programs, numerous international projects, the work of nine alumni groups, the annual MitOst Festival and the diverse commitments of 1300 MitOst members from 40 countries.

Activity

International understanding and civic engagement are key areas of project work MitOst. The project ideas are born in the circle of members in project groups, who meet at their own initiative. Every club member can develop a project and apply for funding. Part of the project funds is to be introduced by grants and individual contributions. The projects are open to all, not only aimed at club members. There are International seminars and workshops on current and historical issues, film and book projects, which allow mutual knowledge of languages ​​and cultures, transnational reading tours by young authors, international theater festivals, study tours for members and supporters by regions and cultural landscapes of Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe.

Festival

The highlight of the club year is the International MitOst festival in another city held annually (2003 Pécs / Hungary, 2004 Vilnius / Lithuania, 2005 Wrocław / Poland, 2006 Timisoara / Romania, 2007 Görlitz / Zgorzelec, Germany / Poland, 2008 Uzhhorod / Ukraine, 2009 Gdansk / Poland, 2010 Perm / Russia, 2011 České Budějovice / Czech Republic, 2012 in Russian / Bulgaria). 2013 will be held the festival in Leipzig / Germany.

Projects

MitOst promotes volunteer projects of its members in various formats. This includes, inter alia, Language and cultural projects, tolerance projects KlickOst projects and micro projects. Once a year the MitOst magazine reports on the activities of the club life.
