Mitsubishi Lancer (A70)#Celeste
The Mitsubishi Celeste was a sports coupe that was manufactured from 1975 to 1981 by the Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi. It was based on the Mitsubishi Lancer of the first generation, but possessed an independent hatchback body.
From 1977, the Celeste was also offered in Germany. He was, together with the Lancer and the larger Galant model, the first model program, with the Mitsubishi 1977 came on the German market.
In Germany the coupé was offered in two versions:
The Celeste was thus about 2500 DM cheaper than a comparable motorized VW Scirocco.
1979 Celeste was revised, from now on he had rectangular headlights instead of round headlights used previously. The performance of the larger engine increased to 77 kW (105 hp).
In Japan, there was also a weaker version with a 1410 cc big engine, which was not available in Europe. In other markets, the model was partially Colt Lancer Celeste Celeste or so that it is run as part of this model series. In Europe, the Celeste but was run as an independent model. Also offered in the USA and Canada models Plymouth Arrow and Dodge Arrow refer to the same model, only in the adapted to the U.S. Food and Drug Regulations form, especially with the time prescribed in the U.S. massive bumpers.
Successor was the Mitsubishi Cordia, but had front-wheel drive, while the Celeste, as well as the older Lancer models, was driven through the rear wheels.
