Largest shareholders, each with about four percent of the shares are the Master Trust Bank of Japan ( Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group ) and the Japan Trustee Services Bank ( Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group ).

The company was founded in 2000 as a result of a merger of two equal partners with Sumitomo Marine & Fire Insurance Co., Ltd.. and Mitsui Marine & Fire Insurance Co., Ltd.. founded. The company is traded on the Tokyo Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol 8752.
